If there’s one type of clothing that really needs to be as cheap as possible, it’s babywear. Baby grows, baby suits, T-shirts, bibs, all-in-ones and the whole range of clothing for the tiniest people can become pretty expensive for parents and guardians. But if you’re running a nursery, day care centre or paediatric healthcare facility, the costs can be enormous.
The first reason is that kids simply grow up so fast. The average newborn is about 50cm head to toe, but by 3 months they’re already 60cm long … and that number keeps shooting up. It’s 70cm by 8 months, and 80cm by the first birthday. All this means that you’re replacing clothing not because it’s worn out, but because it simply doesn’t fit any more. Places that look after multiple kids of all ages can mitigate this cost somewhat by handing clothing down to the next age group. But that’s not always possible, and anyway, every saving is a bonus.
Next up, babies and toddlers can easily get through three or four outfits in a day. Spillages, food accidents and of course the malfunctions at the other end of the digestive system all add up to a lot of chopping and changing of clothing, and a very big pile of washing. That’s why most kids will have about eight baby grows and all-in-ones on the go at any given time, and that’s not to mention the exterior clothing they wear.
Added together, it’s easy to see how clothing babies and very young children can quickly become a big drain on the pocket. That’s where Screen Textiles can become a life saver.
Because we can source our clothing at extraordinary prices from our suppliers, we’re able to pass on the savings to our customers, especially those who buy in bulk. Body suits for as little as £4 and rompers for £6 are all but impossible to find in the shops – that is, unless you’re willing to sacrifice quality. Low quality baby clothes usually suffer from colour loss after washing, strange sizes, and scratchy, uncomfortable fabrics that can irritate the little one’s skin.
When you buy through Screen Textiles, you know that quality is the number one priority. We work with brands like Babybugz, Larkwood, Bella + Canvas and Regatta – household names that only use the best fabrics and have quality control and comfort in every stitch.
Many of our baby clothing items also come in magnificent ranges of colours. Take the standard Babybugz all in one suit, for example which comes in seven colours, including pink, black, blue and vanilla. It’s the same story with toddler bibs, too. The Larkwood bib comes in 13 all-over colours, plus three two-tone patterns, with white body and navy, light blue or pink bound edges. That’s great if you’re running a club or nursery, as you can give all the little ones a “team” look by dressing them all the same, or alternatively let them choose the colour they want, to make them feel like proper grown-ups.
As they grow up a little, they need another type of everyday clothing – T shirts. As you would expect, we have a huge range of those, too (we started out as a T shirt company back in the day, so this really is our patch). The Larkwood basic T shirt comes in no fewer than 17 colours, so you can really add some personality to their outfits. Whether you want basic white, black, pink or blue is up to you, but there are also some more unusual shades in the range too, like khaki, purple, pale yellow and jade. They all look great, and you can tell they are superb quality as soon as you run your fingers over the fabric. Prices start at around £4 for a single tee, but buy in larger orders and you can get the price down to around £3.50 each – imagine what that could do to your babywear budget!
So as you can see, we have the suppliers, the names and the range to make us the wholesaler of choice for many an organisation that deals with kids and their fast growing, messy ways. Some of them also take advantage of our printing service, which is great for clubs, nurseries and schools to put a logo and a name on them. You’ll also benefit from next-day delivery if you’re buying clothes off the peg. It all adds up to a truly cost-effective way to clothe those adorable little mess machines, so get in touch for more details.
